PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus capable of saving a roll-like recording medium while suppressing floating of the recording medium in a recording area, and a recording method.SOLUTION: An inkjet type printer 11 includes: respective roller pairs 15-18 for transporting paper P to the downstream side along a transport path thereof while unrolling the paper P from rolled paper RP; a paper remaining amount sensor 35 for acquiring a curl amount at a tip of the paper P by curling tendency of the unrolled paper P; a recording head 24 performing printing to the paper P in a printing area; and a control unit for controlling the respective roller pairs 15-18 so that the more the curl amount at the tip of the acquired paper P increases, the more the projection amount of the paper P to the downstream side from the printing area in starting the printing of the paper P increases.
