Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to grasp an object located in the direction opposite to the traveling direction of a vehicle.SOLUTION: In an image display system, a shift determination part determines the traveling direction of a vehicle 9. Then, a composite image generation part generates a composite image CP1 continuously showing the peripheral region A1 in the periphery of the vehicle 9 viewed from a virtual viewpoint for overhead viewing the vehicle 9 and a rear region A2 in the direction opposite to the traveling direction of the vehicle 9. A display displays a display screen DP1 including the composite image CP1. Since the display screen DP1 includes the composite image CP1 showing the rear region A2 in the direction opposite to the traveling direction of the vehicle 9, the user is capable of grasping an object located in the direction opposite to the traveling direction of the vehicle 9 by viewing the displayed display screen DP1.
