PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce density unevenness of read image data even when the fluctuation in the amount of light of a light source has low reproducibility.SOLUTION: In configuring a read line period, a timing clock generating unit 64 receives analog image data from an analog processing unit 60, detects fluctuation in the amount of light for each read line from the analog image data, calculates the maximum value, the minimum value, and the total average value of the average values of each level of the amount of light in the main scanning direction for each image data. If the difference value between the maximum value and the minimum value is not less than 5% of the total average value, the timing clock generating unit 64 performs controls including reconfiguring the amount of light of the light source that is in inverse proportion to the read line period, and reconfiguring the reading rate that is in inverse proportion to the read line period.
