Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprising manufacturing tetrahydrofuran from a 1,4-butanediol-containing liquid as a raw material that permits avoidance of deposition of solid matter to stably attain high productivity.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprises feeding, as a raw material, 1,4-butanediol containing 0.01-0.50 wt.% of 2-(4-hydroxybutoxy)-tetrahydrofuran into a reactor and carrying out a dehydrative cyclization reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst having a pKa value of 4 or lower to obtain tetrahydrofuran as a product, where the viscosity of the solution in the reactor at a viscosity measurement temperature of 25°C is at least 50 mPa sec and at most 1,300 mPa sec.
