Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprising manufacturing tetrahydrofuran from 1,4-butanediol as a raw material using an acid catalyst having a pKa value of 4 or lower that permits avoidance of deposition of a solid byproduct to stably attain high productivity.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for tetrahydrofuran comprises feeding 1,4-butanediol as a raw material into a reactor and carrying out a dehydrative cyclization reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst having a pKa value of 4 or lower to obtain tetrahydrofuran as a product, where the absorbance measured at one or more wavelengths selected within the measurement wavelength range of 650-750 nm is at least 0.01 and at most 3.0 based on the UV spectrum of the solution in the reactor. |
