PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, a display control method, and a display control program allowing a user to easily grasp whether or not an application of an icon displayed on an application list screen is being executed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: screen information storage means for storing list screen information including an icon position, an icon image, application identification information, and macro identification information for an icon to call a macro in which an application and application operation setting are registered; screen control means for acquiring information on a state of an application whose job state changed from standby to execution and performing a screen update request while outputting the identification information; screen creation means for updating a display state of an icon of an application indicated by the acquired identification information to a display state different from icons of other applications when receiving a screen update request for an application list screen created on the basis of the list screen information; and display means for displaying a list screen including the updated icon.
