Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing catalyst for producing methacrylic acid by which methacrolein is subjected to gas phase contact oxidation by molecular oxygen to produce the methacrylic acid at high yield.SOLUTION: In a method of producing catalyst for producing methacrylic acid including: (a) a preparation step of preparing aqueous slurry or mixture solution containing a catalyst component; (b) a drying step of drying the aqueous slurry or the mixture solution to obtain dried substance particles; (c) a shaping step of shaping the dried substance particles to obtain a shaped product; and (d) a heat treatment step of subjecting the shaped product to heat treatment. A value of a median size (d: unit μm) of the dried substance particles is in a range of d≤60, a value d/dobtained by dividing a value of a particle size (d: unit μm) corresponding to 10% of cumulative frequency distribution of the dried substance particles by dis in a range of 0.41≤d/d≤0.79, and a value d/dobtained by dividing a value of a particle size (d: unit μm) corresponding to 90% of the cumulative frequency distribution of the dried substance particles by dis in a range of 1.21≤d/d≤1.89.
