Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display system, a projection type video display device, a video signal output device, and a program capable of reducing load for analyzing a video signal in the projection type video display device and adjusting light volume according to luminance of a video by using a light volume adjustment part.SOLUTION: A video display system 1 includes a projector 20 for projecting and displaying a video on the basis of a video signal, and a video reproduction device 10 for outputting a video signal. The projector 20 includes a light source 21, a video generation part 23 for generating a video by using light emitted by the light source 21, and a diaphragm 22 for adjusting light volume. The video reproduction device 10 includes a luminance information acquisition part 12 for acquiring information on luminance of a video to be displayed on the projector 20 from video data, and a signal output part 13 for outputting a control signal for controlling the diaphragm 22 on the basis of the information on luminance. The projector 20 adjusts light volume with the diaphram 22 on the basis of the control signal input from the video reproduction device 10.
