Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier for a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine, the carrier being excellent in OSC (oxygen storage capacity) in a wide temperature range from a low temperature, at an early stage after startup of operation, to a high temperature.SOLUTION: The carrier for a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine comprises a core material on whose surface CeOis carried, the core material comprising a CeO-ZrOsolid solution or a CeO-ZrO-LaOsolid solution. In this case, the quantity of the CeOin the core material is 5-35 mass% to the mass of the carrier, and the quantity of the LaOin the core material is 0-10 mass% to the mass of the carrier, and the quantity of the CeOcarried on the surface of the core material is 5-17 mass% to the mass of the carrier.
