PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video playback controller which ensures an excellent sound reproduction environment even if a reproducer, e.g. a camera and a television, is connected, and to provide a video playback control method.SOLUTION: In the video playback control method in a video reproducer which can be connected with an external device and includes a storage medium 113 for storing the data about the image and the sound, the data of the device information about the sound of an external device is acquired (S3), the data to be reproduced is selected from the data stored on the storage medium 113, reproduction of the data thus selected is designated and the data about the sound is transmitted to the external device (S7), sound control operation of the external device is detected during reproduction of the data (S15), and the change data is transmitted to the external device based on the results of change operation and the device information thus acquired (S17-S27).
