Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which, while reducing errors in address discharge, can restrict increase in the voltage required for an electric discharge.SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises a front plate 2 and a back plate disposed opposite to the front plate 2. The front plate 2 includes a display electrode 6, a dielectric layer 8 covering the display electrode 6, and a protective layer 9 covering the dielectric layer 8. The protective layer 9 contains a base film 91 and an agglomerated particle 92 formed on the base film 91. The agglomerated particle 92 consisting of an agglomerate of plural magnesium oxide crystal grains is such that a ratio of the maximum intensity of photoluminescence in the range of wavelengths from 200 nm and over to less than 300 nm to the maximum intensity of photoluminescence in the range of wavelengths from 300 nm and over to less than 500 nm is 0.1 to 10, both ends incl. Furthermore, the agglomerated particle 92 contains 50 ppm to 200 ppm of Al, both ends incl., as weight concentration, and 150 ppm to 600 ppm of F, both ends incl., as weight concentration.
