PERSONAL AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal authentication system 40 that excellently detects abuse of an information carrier for authentication and does not take a too long collation time for an increase in the number of registered persons to be authenticated.SOLUTION: Biological information on a person 20 to be authenticated is previously registered in a database 42 using an identification code as a search key, and the person 20 to be authenticated is made to carry an information carrier 10 on which the identification code and a registered image are displayed. For authentication, the information carrier 10 is imaged together with the person 20 to be authenticated, and a code image 35 is read out of an authentication processing object image 30 to narrow down registration information to be collated by code search. First actual information is found by cutting a face image 34 out of the inside 33 of an information carrier area of the image 30 and second actual information is found by cutting a face image 32 out of the outside 31 of the information carrier area of the image 30, thereby authenticating the person 20 to be authenticated through collation between the second actual information and registered information as well as collation between the first actual information and registered information.
