PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of avoiding a user from recognizing abnormal sound as much as possible, which is generated when the magnetization quantity of a magnet is being changed.SOLUTION: A washing machine comprises: a rotary tub suspended by a plurality of elastic suspending mechanisms in an outer case; a magnetic force variable motor attached to an external bottom part of the rotary tub via a clutch mechanism; an agitator attached to an inner bottom part of the rotary tub via the clutch mechanism; and controlling means for controlling the magnetization quantity of a magnet of the magnetic force variable motor to control the drive of the magnetic force variable motor and controlling the clutch mechanism to transmit the driving force caused by the magnetic force variable motor to the agitator only or both of the agitator and the rotary tub, in which the controlling means implements the process of decreasing the magnetic quantity of a magnet of the magnetic force variable motor in order for dewatering operation prior to a start of the dewatering operation on the way of performing the switch control of the clutch mechanism.
