PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus, a control method for the communication apparatus, and a program for settling a problem with respect to constructing an ad hoc network using WPA in that communication service cannot be provided when the number of ad hoc network components exceeds the key holding upper limit of such components.SOLUTION: A communication apparatus for communicating with a plurality of other communication apparatuses in a wireless network, includes: a reception part for receiving an exchange start packet that starts process of exchanging cryptographic keys with the other communication apparatuses; a determination part that determines whether the number of cryptographic keys used by the communication apparatus to communicate with the other communication apparatuses exceeds the upper limit number of the cryptographic keys possibly held by the communication apparatus or not, when a new cryptographic keys is exchanged according to the exchange start packet; and a display part for displaying an alarm when the determination part has determined that the number of cryptographic keys exceeds the upper limit number of the cryptographic keys possibly held.
