PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device keeping a uniform display characteristic and having high reliability, by suppressing damage due to electric discharge, leading to variation in operation characteristic of an electron emitting element or a drive circuit.SOLUTION: An image display device comprises in a peripheral part outside an image display region of a cathode plate: an anode terminal penetrating through the cathode plate and electrically connected to an anode; a guard electrode provided on an internal side surface of a vacuum envelope of the cathode plate so as to be spaced from the anode terminal; and a voltage clamp electrode which is provided between row direction wiring or column direction wiring on an outermost side of the image display region and the guard electrode, in parallel to the row direction wiring or column direction wiring on the outermost side and connected with a voltage regulation part, in which the voltage clamp electrode has a higher inductance value than that of the row direction wiring or column direction wiring on the outermost side.
