Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform focus adjustment.SOLUTION: A camera 100 includes: first detection means which extracts a white pixel region most likely to be a principal subject, from white pixel regions obtained by binarizing a photographic image inputted from an imaging device and detects a first subject region including the principal subject from within the photographic image; first setting means which sets a first AF evaluation area on the basis of the first subject region detected by the first detection means; second setting means which sets a second AF evaluation area smaller than the first AF evaluation area set by the first setting means, within the first AF evaluation area; contrast evaluation value acquisition means which takes the first AF evaluation area and the second evaluation area as objects to acquire contrast evaluation values by driving an AF lens; and focus adjustment means which performs focus adjustment on the basis of the contrast evaluation value for the first AF evaluation area and the contrast evaluation value for the second AF evaluation area, which are acquired by the contrast evaluation value acquisition means.
