INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR UPDATING FIRMWARE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update firmware in short time without requiring pre-processing on firmware itself to be updated.SOLUTION: A computer system 10 associates pre-update division data and a specific value, and stores them in a flash ROM 14. A processor 11 obtains update firmware data constituted by update division data and a specific value calculated from the pre-update division data, compares the specific value calculated from the pre-update division data with the specific value associated with the pre-update division data corresponding the update division data for each piece of the obtained update division data, and updates the pre-update division data and the specific value that are to be stored in the flash ROM 14 to the update division data and the calculated specific value, if the aforementioned two specific values are different.
