Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease pinholes occurring near the surface of cast pieces at casting, and surface flaws occurring at rolling caused thereby.SOLUTION: This stainless steel comprises, by mass, 0.005-0.03% C, ≤0.8% Si, 0.1-7.0% Mn, ≤0.04% P, ≤0.002% S, 1.0-13.0% Ni, 17.0-26.0% Cr, ≤0.06% Al, 0.10-0.30% N, 0.05-4.0% Mo, and 0.05-3.5% Cu, the balance Fe and inevitable impurities, where the stainless steel with high N content and excellent in surface flaw resistance is characterized in that: δFe amount(%) and nitrogen concentration [% N] both calculated from the component composition, and nitrogen solubility [% Neq] in molten steel at liquidus temperature satisfy the formula (a) or (b), and the number of inclusion with ≥20 μm width existing in the surface layer of 1 mm depth is ≤0.15/mm.
