Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus that dissipates heat generated in a light source from a heat releasing section to the outside and prevents appropriately the light source from being heated when it reads an image by emitting light on a manuscript carried to a first reading section while fixing a linear lighting device to the first reading section.SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus is configured to read, while fixing a linear lighting device, which converts light emitted from a light source 11b arranged on an end of an elongated light guiding body 11a into linear light in the longitudinal direction of the light guiding body and emits such light on a manuscript, to a first reading section 15a, an image by emitting light on a manuscript carried to the first reading section, where a heat releasing section 11d is arranged in the vicinity of the light source of the linear lighting device so that the heat releasing section is in contact with the outside air.
