ABSOLUTE VALUE TYPE POSITION DETECTOR FOR MOBILE BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost absolute value type position detector for a mobile body, capable of exactly detecting an absolute position of the mobile body over a long distance.SOLUTION: The absolute value type position detector 1 for a mobile body consists of absolute position specifying scales 10 in which absolute value specifying patterns are recorded for specifying the absolute position of the mobile body, and detection means for detecting the absolute positions of the scales. The adjacent scales in the scales 10 are arranged in series by holding predetermined overlapping amounts so that parts of them are sequentially overlapped, and the detection means are respectively arranged for every scale, and they include a nonvolatile storage section 31 for keeping to store the absolute positions of the overlapped amount and the specific positions in the overlaps of each scale, and an arithmetic section 30 for calculating the absolute position of the mobile body from information being stored in the nonvolatile storage section 31.
