Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide large tow carbon fiber with high quality by overcoming a conventional problem.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing carbon fiber comprises the steps of: obtaining coagulated fiber by ejecting a spinning solution of an organic solvent solution of an acrylonitrile-based polymer containing 95 mass% or more of an acrylonitrile unit into a coagulation bath of an organic solvent aqueous solution by using a spinneret device having 50000 to 70000 ejection holes, and drawing the coagulated fiber from the coagulation bath at a rate 0.3 to 0.4 time as high as a linear ejection velocity for the spinning solution; further drawing the fiber by 5 to 6 times; adding a silicon-based oil solution; drying the fiber and then stretching the fiber by 1.2 to 1.7 times while heating the fiber between rollers; and subsequently burning the fiber into carbon fiber.
