PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reading apparatus having a high reading speed.SOLUTION: A correspondence relationship between a feature pattern of an imaging object R for which an information code Q is indicated and decode use information which can be utilized for simplification of decode processing is stored in a memory 35. In reading processing, a feature portion is detected from an image imaged by a light-receiving sensor 23 (step S1), and it is tried to match a pattern of the detected feature portion with the feature pattern of which correspondence relationship is stored in the memory 35 (step S2). When determining that both patterns coincide with each other (Yes in step S3), the decode use information is determined based on the correspondence relationship and simplified decode processing is performed by using the determined decode use information (step S8). Thus, the simplified decode processing can be performed, therefore improving the reading speed of the information code Q.
