Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent vibration of a rotor and accompanying strange noise generated when hydraulic oil has drained from a VTC device during starting.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine for use in a hybrid electric vehicle repeats automatic start and automatic stop. During stopping, it is determined whether the hydraulic oil has drained from a VTC device on the basis of the lapse of time since a previous engine stop and an oil temperature. The VTC device has a start retard position for decompression which is positioned further in a retard direction than the most retarded position under normal operation. With an elapse of a predetermined delay time t after starting cranking, substantial control of a hydraulic control valve is performed for an advance operation. When filled with the hydraulic oil, a short time t1 is set as the delay time t, while for the situation in which oil has drained off a long time t2 is set as the delay time t. A sufficient start acceleration performance is maintained when filled with the hydraulic oil. A strange noise is prevented from occurring when the hydraulic oil is drained. |
