Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved isomerization method of Z-isomer which exists in a synthetic lycopene used as an additive in food or as an antioxidant in pharmaceutical products.SOLUTION: The method for isomerizing Z-lycopenes in a mixture which contains less than 50% of the whole E lycopene (whole trans) and more than 50% of Z-lycopenes without applying pressure at a temperature lower than 100°C in a suitable polar solvent medium in the presence of thiourea as a catalyst is provided. Preferably, the method for isomerizing Z-lycopenes in the mixture in which the mixture of the lycopenes is a refined or partially refined solid, or a solution or a suspension in organic solvent, obtained by an arbitrary synthesizing method is provided.
