GAS PEDAL APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly avoid or announce a danger in the operation of a gas pedal (depression or return operation) assuming that pedaling force exhibits hysteresis characteristics, and to prevent a driver from feeling strangeness when reaction force is added.SOLUTION: The gas pedal apparatus includes an gas pedal 20, a hysteresis generation mechanism 40 for generating hysteresis on the pedaling force, a reaction force addition mechanism 60 for adding reaction force to push back the gas pedal toward a rest position, and a control means 70 for controlling driving of the reaction force addition mechanism. The control means 70 controls driving of the reaction force addition mechanism 60 so as to add reaction force not only during depressing of the gas pedal but also returning of the gas pedal under a predetermined condition and to add reaction force larger than the pedaling force difference between the pedaling force at the depressing side and the pedaling force at the return side in the hysteresis of the pedaling force. Thus, optimal feelings are obtained, and any dangers are quickly avoided or announced.
