PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily adjusting an optimal image forming condition when forming an output image and of suppressing variations in the image quality of output images caused not only by individual differences among apparatuses but also by external disturbance factors, such as environmental changes, difference in paper materials and temporal changes, after starting to use the apparatus.SOLUTION: An apparatus performs: generating plural sets of conditions of image forming parameters related to image quality on the basis of image data of an input image to output plural sample images based on each of the generated plural sets of the image forming parameters; and setting, as reference condition, a condition of the image forming parameter corresponding to a selected sample image from among the output plural sample images to generate/output an output-target image on a recording medium on the basis of the set reference condition of the image forming parameter.
