GLASS PLATE END FACE IMAGING APPARATUS AND IMAGING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass plate end face imaging apparatus capable of imaging an orthogonal end face in a direction orthogonal to a carrying direction and its vicinity without stopping a glass plate being carried, and an imaging method therefor.SOLUTION: A glass plate end face imaging apparatus 5 related to the invention includes: carrying means 3 for carrying the glass plate in a horizontal state in a prescribed direction; imaging means 7 (7a, 7b) for imaging an orthogonal end face 4a(4b) in the direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of a glass plate 2 carried by the carrying means 3 and its vicinity; moving means 8 for moving the imaging means 7 (7a, 7b) in a direction oblique to the carrying direction of the glass plate 2; and movement control means 9 for making the imaging means 7 (7a, 7b) movable along the orthogonal end face 4a(4b) by the moving means 8 while keeping a distance between the imaging means 7 (7a, 7b) and the orthogonal end face 4a(4b) constant when carrying the glass plate 2.
