Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for directly and selectively producing ethyl acetate from acetic acid.SOLUTION: The method for producing ethyl acetate comprises contacting a feed flow containing acetic acid and hydrogen with a hydrogenation catalyst at an elevated temperature of 200-300°C under an operating pressure of 5-30 atmosphere absolute, wherein the hydrogenation catalyst substantially comprises at least one metal chosen from the group consisting of nickel, platinum and palladium and at least one metal chosen from copper and cobalt supported on a catalyst support such as silica and H-ZSM-5.
