PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately improve visibility of a target blood vessel.SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system includes: a light source device 14 which irradiates living tissue in a body cavity with illumination light; a CCD 21 which images the living tissue under the illumination light; and a suppressed display processing part 60 which generates a display image on the basis of imaging signals output by the CCD 21, and reduces the contrast of a non-target blood vessel among surface layer blood vessels and middle depth layer blood vessels projected on the display image, thereby suppressing the display of the non-target blood vessel with respect to the target blood vessel.
