Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a xenon short arc lamp with a long service life capable of restraining a flicker phenomenon for a long time by preventing projections and bumps on a tip face of a cathode for a long time after a lamp is lit on.SOLUTION: A xenon short arc lamp for a digital projector comprises: an anode; a cathode having a cathode body made of tungsten with an electron radioactive material; and a luminous tube made of quartz glass. The cathode has a stripe-like phase of tungsten carbide in a phase of tungsten (W) on a surface layer on the tip face. Carbon and/or carbide is provided inside the luminous tube, and a concentration of an OH group on an inner surface of the luminous tube is 100wt-ppm or higher, and a getter having a hydrogen selectivity property is provided inside the luminous tube.
