PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which, when reading a stapled document, even if having read the document placed in a wrong orientation by a user, is capable of equalizing the orientation of output images.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: document reading means which reads the document to acquire document image data; fold position identifying means which identifies the fold position of the document using the document image data acquired by the document reading means; and image rotation means which rotates the document image data acquired by the document reading means, on the basis of the opening direction of the document, the number of pages of the document read by the document reading means, the fold position of a reference page identified by the fold position identifying means, and the fold position of another page identified by the fold position identifying means.
