PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that photographing of a moving picture with high picture quality by a multi-plate type and reduction of file capacity cannot be realized in a conventional case.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a plurality of imaging sections imaging object light resolved into a plurality of color components at every color component; a thinning picture generating section reading a signal from a pixel position which is not overlapped in a plurality of pictures corresponding to the color components which the plurality of imaging sections image, generating the picture of a color array which is previously set, performing a picture processing peculiar to the color array on the picture of the color array and generating a color moving picture; a whole pixel picture generating section reading the whole pixels at each color component from the picture which the plurality of imaging sections image and generating the color moving picture from the image at every color component, from which the whole pixels are read; a switching section selecting one of color moving pictures which the thinning picture generating section or the whole pixel picture generating section generates in accordance with a condition that is previously set; and a recording section recording the color moving picture which the switching section selects in a storage medium.
