Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing organically modified aerogel using a commonly usable surface modification process, without exchanging water for an organic solvent.SOLUTION: In the method, (a) silica hydrogel is formed at a pH of ≥3, (b) the surface of the resulting hydrogel is modified by treatment with a silylating agent to give surface-modified gel, and (c) the resulting surface-modified gel is dried under subcritical temperature and pressure conditions.
