Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining ring for a shaft which can be easily mounted without using a dedicated driving tool, and can be removed without being broken.SOLUTION: This retaining ring for a shaft is fitted to a circumferential recessed groove 36 formed at an end of a shaft 32 fitted in an inner joint member 26 of this constant velocity universal joint. The retainer ring is a cross-sectionally rectangular ring body having a radial slit 60 permitting expansion and contraction. In a free state, the inner diameter dimension thereof is set smaller than an opening diameter dimension D3 of the circumferential recessed groove 36. A tool engagement part with which a part of a diameter increasing tool 70 engages is formed at an end of the retaining ring facing the radial slit 60. By diameter increasing operation by the diameter increasing tool 70, the retaining ring is brought into a diameter increased state where the inner diameter dimension is larger than the opening diameter dimension D3 of the circumferential recessed groove 36. |
