Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of operating a coke oven which can operate the coke oven without deteriorating coal charging efficiency even when one of two coal charging cars has broken down.SOLUTION: When coke is produced by charging coal into a carbonization chamber of the coke oven 21 from a coal charging car 16 which travels on the oven top part of the coke oven 21, a reserve coal charging car 20 is arranged near the oven end of the coke oven 21 and the coke oven 21 is operated by replacing the broken coal charging car 16 with the reserve coal charging car 20.
