PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove backlash between a rack and a pinion by pressing the rack with the same force at all times even when a width regulating means is operated in any position.SOLUTION: A paper feeding device for feeding a recording medium includes: the width regulating means slidable in a direction orthogonal to a paper feeding direction of the recording medium, which regulates the recording medium to the direction orthogonal to the paper feeding direction; a supporting member for supporting the width regulating means; racks connected to each width regulating means; an energizing means rotatably arranged between the racks, which energizes the pinion to be engaged with the rack and the rack in an axial direction of the pinion; and a guide part for guiding the rack. An energizing force by the energizing means is converted to a force acting so that the racks approximate the pinion by the guide part.
