Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping machine that can grip various kinds of workpieces with different shapes and has high general versatility.SOLUTION: A general-purpose hand 50 is the gripping machine for gripping a workpiece by fingers that are configured to be opened and closed by an actuator. The actuator includes a floating mechanism that floatingly supports the actuator itself so that the actuator is slidable in opening and closing directions of the fingers. The general-purpose hand includes electric chucks 8, 16, 24, which are the three actuators, wherein each of two electric chucks 16, 24 of the three electric chucks has a pair of fingers and also is disposed so that opening and closing directions of each of the pair of fingers are parallel to each other, and the other electric chuck 8 opens and closes the two electric chucks 16, 24 in a direction perpendicular to the opening and closing directions of each of the pair of fingers of the two electric chucks 16, 24 to open and close each of the pair of fingers of the two electric chucks 16, 24 in the perpendicular direction.
