PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle device and a display control method capable of providing an excellent operational feeling when being connected to a computer network.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle device 1 is provided with control means 15 which controls display means 13 in such a manner that: it displays an initial screen 61; if the screen is shifted to a different screen, it displays a predetermined first icon or first key which is a link to the initial screen; if a selection operation of the first icon or the first key is detected by input means 12, it displays the initial screen 61; if the different screen is one of a plurality of top screens 62 to 64 each of which is provided for each category of content and if the screen is shifted from the top screen to one of different screens 65 to 67 in the category, it displays the first icon or the first key along with a predetermined second icon or second key; and if a selection operation of the second icon or the second key is detected by the input means 12, it displays the top screen.
