Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool material in non-carbide supported form having sufficient strength, toughness and wear resistance, especially excellent corrosion resistance and adhesive wear resistance required in heavy machining application of cast irons.SOLUTION: A sintered cubic boron nitride (cBN) compact for use in a tool is obtained by sintering a mixture of: (i) cubic boron nitride; (ii) aluminum oxide; (iii) one or more high melting point metal compounds; and (iv) aluminum and/or one or more non-oxide aluminum compounds.
