Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a sense of incompatibility concerning the luminance distribution of an LED backlight upon failure of a lighting circuit.SOLUTION: The LED backlight includes a multi-chip LED package (2-1-2-8) in which a plurality of LED chips are mounted on one package and a series circuit (4-A-1-4-D-1) in which a plurality of LED chips are connected in series and are lighted simultaneously, and the plurality of the series circuits are connected to one multi-chip LED package. Even when one series circuit has a failure and the LEDs on that circuit has stopped lighting, all the LEDs in one multi-chip LED package are not turned off, thereby, it can be prevented that a certain portion of the backlight becomes pitch-dark.
