PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease in productivity when performing an operation for saving power consumption such that a fixing heater is stopped while a page (paper) that does not need fixing passes through a fixing part, for example.SOLUTION: When a process (page) that need fixing has been proceeding while the temperature Tm of a fixing part maintains a target temperature by exerting fixing temperature control and if the next process includes interleaving paper insertion that does not need fixing, fixing temperature control is stopped (a heater is stopped) at the timing (to) at which the page right before the interleaving paper insertion passes through the fixing part. Thereafter, the interleaving paper insertion is continued while control is stopped, during which whether the fixing temperature control needs to be resumed or not is determined at proper timing. The determination of resumption is made on a condition that the detection temperature Tm of the fixing part has become less than a temperature threshold Ts. The temperature threshold Ts is a critical temperature at which a required fixing target temperature is ensured to perform a process that needs fixing, after processing for the number of remaining unprocessed sheets N is finished at the point in time.
