PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document processing device facilitating selecting operation of symbols.SOLUTION: The document processing device (tape printing device 1) includes: a symbol memory part 34b storing information on the plurality of symbols; a symbol storage part (symbol storage buffer 32b) storing selected symbols; an operation reception part (keyboard 11) receiving a pressing operation of character keys and control keys; a synonymous symbol retrieval part (control part 30) retrieving symbols synonymous with characters allocated to the character keys received by the operation reception part from the symbols stored in the symbol storage part 34b; a symbol display part (display part 12) displaying the synonymous symbols which are symbols as a result of retrieval by the synonymous symbol retrieval part; and a symbol storage control part (control part 30) selecting the synonymous symbols displayed on the symbol display part when the operation reception part receives the pressing operation of a predetermined control key, and storing the synonymous symbols in the symbol storage part.
