Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic carrier for an electrophotographic developer which has superior durability of a coating resin of the carrier against peeling or wear, has stability against mechanical stress on the carrier, induces no toner spent, can be stably maintained without causing fog or density irregularity for a long period of time, and is used for an electrophotographic developer capable of maintaining a high-quality image with excellent gradation for a long time, and to provide a two-component developer comprising a toner and the above magnetic carrier for an electrophotographic developer.SOLUTION: A magnetic carrier for an electrophotographic developer comprises spherical magnetic composite particles comprising ferromagnetic iron oxide particles and dielectric material particles dispersed in a phenolic resin and having minute recesses and projections on the carrier particle surfaces. The surface of the spherical magnetic composite particle shows a ten-point average roughness Rz of 0.3 μm to 2.0 μm.
