A TLR14 recognizes a range of ligands and activates a series of signaling pathways that lead to the induction of immune and inflammatory genes. A method of screening or searching for a substance such as a peptide or chemical compound which interacts with or binds with the peptide and/or interferes with its biological function or activity or that of another substance is also provided.
