Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for designing a low-inductance, high-efficiency induction machine.SOLUTION: An electric drive system comprises: an induction machine (60); and a power converter (58) electrically coupled to the induction machine (60) to drive the induction machine (60). The power converter (58) comprises a plurality of silicon carbide (SiC) switching devices (72 to 82). The electric drive system further comprises a controller (114) that is electrically coupled to the power converter (58) and that is programmed to transmit switching signals to the plurality of SiC switching devices (72 to 82) at a predetermined switching frequency such that a peak-to-peak current ripple is less than approximately five percent.
