PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device, an image processing method, a program, and a recording medium that are capable of shortening inspection time by determining the color of a pixel at a high speed with high accuracy even when a pixel of a color having a large brightness difference with of a pixel of another color does not exist.SOLUTION: A defective region detection unit 4 determines a defective region based on image data. A profile acquisition unit 5 calculates a profile value, for example, a brightness value, for each pixel of a display panel 9 on the basis of the image data. A defective region color determination unit 7 creates a reference position list based on a change pattern representing a change in the calculated profile value. Then, based on the created reference position list, a color of the defective region is determined, and based on an evaluation criterion preset for each color, the quality of the defective region is determined.
