Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material for brake pads with less wear volume, and causing no damage to the brake rotor.SOLUTION: The friction material for brake pads contains a fibrous substrate, a thermosetting resin binder and a friction/wear regulator as principal ingredients. The fibrous substrate is composed of: an Ni-Sn-based alloy containing 0.1-5 mass% Sn with residue containing Ni and inevitable impurities; an Ni-Sn-based alloy further containing one or two or more of Si, Al, Ti and Cr of 0.1-1 mass% in total; or an Ni-Sn-based alloy where a part of Ni is replaced by 60 mass% or less of Fe.
