SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery for restraining a swelling phenomenon by incorporating a plurality of jelly-roll shaped electrode assemblies in a square-shaped can.SOLUTION: A secondary battery in one embodiment of the present invention incorporates a plurality of cylindrical electrode assemblies in a square-shaped can, thereby making it possible to prevent swelling of the can. Therefore, it is possible to minimize deformation of the square-shaped can. The secondary battery in one embodiment of the present invention comprises a plurality of electrode assemblies including a cathode and an anode which are rolled up with a separator existing between the cathode and the anode, a can for accommodating the plural electrode assemblies, a gap assembly for sealing the can, cathode tabs connected to the respective cathodes of the plural electrode assemblies, and anode tabs connected to the respective anodes of the plural electrode assemblies, characterized in that first plural cathode tabs, when viewed from one direction, are aligned along a first line and that first plural anode tabs, when viewed from the same direction, are aligned along a second line, as will be disclosed herein.
