FAILURE RECOVERY DEVICE OF VALVE TIMING ADJUSTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure resolution control device of a valve timing adjusting device for resolving an actuation failure of a lock pin.SOLUTION: The failure resolution control device has a lock/unlock actuation instructing means (S50) which outputs an instruction signal to a hydraulic control valve (lock control valve) to actuate the lock pin to a projecting position and an accommodated position, a phase swing instructing means (S60) which outputs an instruction signal to a hydraulic control valve (phase control valve) so that a rotation phase swings in a predetermined phase range after the lock/unlock control is implemented, and a seizure resolution determining means (S70) which determines whether the actuation failure of the lock pin due to the seizure is solved based on a behavior of an actual phase when phase swing control is implemented. By this means, the seizure by implementing the lock/unlock control can be solved and to check whether the seizure is solved by implementing the phase swing control.
