Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate substance detection element with high reliability, that stabilizes a dead time of the particulate substance detection element for detecting an amount of a particulate substance contained in a gas to be measured by detecting an electrical characteristic that changes in accordance with the amount of the particulate substance deposited between a pair of electrodes.SOLUTION: An electric field intensity non-uniform region shielding layer 130 for covering a predetermined region of a detection part 11 as a shielding layer forming region using an insulation heat-resistant material is provided. An electric field intensity uniform region formed at the detection part 11 when the electric field intensity non-uniform region shielding layer 130 applies voltage between detection electrodes 110 and 120 to detect an electrical characteristic is exposed to a gas to be measured to separate the electric field intensity non-uniform region from the gas to be measured.
